Terms
The basis the work is quoted and carried out on. None of it affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Who you are dealing with
Peter’s Exterior Cleaning is a sole trader working across Lincolnshire. The contact route for anything in these terms, including a complaint, is 07504 561937, by call or by message.
Quotes
A price is given from the photographs you send and covers the surfaces shown in them. It is not a survey and it is not a condition report. It holds for thirty days. If the job on arrival is materially different from the photographs — a bigger area, a surface in worse condition, a roof that cannot be reached safely — a revised price is given before any work starts and you are free to decline it and pay nothing.
What is needed on the day
Access to the surfaces being cleaned, an outside tap and a standard socket unless something else has been agreed, and vehicles moved off a drive that is being cleaned. Where access depends on a neighbour’s land, their permission is yours to obtain. If none of that is in place and the visit cannot go ahead, the cancellation terms below apply.
Weather and rescheduling
Soft washing needs a dry spell to work and high pressure work in a hard frost does more harm than good, so a visit may be moved. You will be told as early as the forecast allows and a new date offered. A visit moved for weather costs nothing.
Cancelling
Cancel or rearrange at any time up to the day before the visit and there is nothing to pay. If you cancel on the same day of the booking, or the visit cannot go ahead because access was not available, a charge may be made for the time and travel already committed. Where the agreement was made away from business premises you also have a statutory right to cancel within fourteen days of agreeing it; if you have asked for the work to be done inside that period and it is finished, you may be asked to pay for what has been done.
Payment
Payment is due on completion unless something else has been agreed in writing, by bank transfer or cash. On sums still outstanding after thirty days, statutory interest at eight per cent above the Bank of England base rate may be charged.
Condition of the property
Surfaces are photographed before work starts. Damage caused by pre-existing defects — cracked or blown render, loose or slipped tiles, failed window seals, sunken paving, perished mastic, corroded fixings — is not covered, and where the photographs show such a defect the work stops short of it and you are told. Cleaning sometimes reveals a defect that the dirt was hiding; that is a discovery, not damage.
If something goes wrong
Tell us as soon as you notice it and send a photograph. Anything to do with the standard of the clean is best raised within six months of the visit, while both sides can still see what was done. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Your statutory rights
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 a service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. If it is not, you are entitled to have it put right or to a price reduction. Nothing on this page replaces or reduces that.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
