Gutter, soffit and fascia cleaning in Lincolnshire

A blocked gutter in Lincolnshire is a clearing job before it is a cleaning job: the silt, moss plugs and seedlings come out by hand or by vacuum, and only then do the soffits and fascias get washed down at low pressure. Pressure alone pushes a blockage into the downpipe, which turns a half-hour job into a dug-up gully.

How the job goes

  1. The photos A photo along the eaves and one of each downpipe shows the run, the height and whether anything is growing in there — a sapling in a gutter means a blockage with roots.
  2. Emptying the run Debris comes out of the gutter rather than being flushed along it, working from a ladder, a tower or a vacuum pole depending on access.
  3. Testing the flow Water goes down each downpipe to prove it runs, because a gutter that looks empty and does not drain has the blockage lower down.
  4. Soffits and fascias The white plastic above and below the gutter line is washed down at low pressure, which is where the green staining actually shows from the pavement.

What this does not cover

Leaking joints, sagging brackets and broken downpipe clips are flagged with a photo for a repair rather than fixed on the visit — a repair needs the right part and a second trip, not a bodge from the top of a ladder. Underground drains and gullies are not rodded. Roof tiles, valleys and flat-roof outlets are separate work, and gutters that can only be reached from a neighbour’s garden need their permission first.

Questions about gutters, soffits and fascias

Is there any proof the gutter was actually emptied?

Yes — a photo along the inside of the run before and after, taken from the ladder or on the vacuum camera, sent with the invoice. It is the one part of this trade a customer standing on the ground cannot see for themselves, which is exactly why it gets photographed rather than described.

Can downpipes be cleared from the ground?

A vacuum pole clears most of what collects at the top of a downpipe from the ground, and a flow test proves it. A blockage that has compacted lower down, or one at the shoe where the pipe meets the drain, needs the pipe opening at a joint — that is still a clearing job, but it gets quoted once the flow test shows where the plug is.

What happens when a bracket is already loose?

It gets left alone and photographed. A loose bracket carrying a full gutter is held by whatever is left of one screw, and leaning a ladder on it or pulling silt past it is how a whole run comes down. The photo goes to you so the repair can be priced by someone who fits guttering.
